7 Day Photographic Workshop

Are you a keen photographer or did you just purchase a camera and you want to learn more about the use of your camera, then take advantage of the unique opportunity to go out with Peter Geraerdts, wildlife photographer and professional safari guide.??We take individuals and groups, just focusing on photography and wildlife. There is a maximum of 6 in the vehicle, for every photographer to have a ‘free side’ in the open safari vehicle, with space for your camera equipment in the middle part of the seat.

Photography can be frustrating but rewarding as well. We hope through this guided trip to increase the enjoyment of photography and share some extraordinary images of Luangwa’s wildlife. This area offers endless opportunities to improve your skills.

For who: in general people who want to focus on photography, both amateurs and professionals

Number of people in one group: max. 6 persons with a view to optimal attention for all passengers.

Accommodation: chalets (2 persons sharing)

Duration: 7 days. This is just a guideline. Number of days can be changed

Destination: South Luangwa National Park – Zambia.

Your advantage: A tourleader and/or the photographer will normally travel with its group to the final destination. Those extra costs should be paid by the total number of travellers. Your photographer/guide is based in South Luangwa…so no extra charges!

How do we work:

We will shoot most pictures from an open game viewer (Our 4 WD vehicle is especially equipped with extra camera support for less movement in the car.) or from a hide which permits a close approach to the subject. We will limit the number of people on the vehicle to max. four persons, so everybody will have enough space and can take pictures from both sides. We will be up early every day as low light of early morning (or evening) will be most favorable for good results. After our every photographic morning experience we will have a small break for sandwiches and drinks in the bush.

After brunch you can relax at the swimming pool, take a nap to recharge your battery and those of your camera and equipment, or do some studying to get to know the environment and its animals better. Before our late afternoon drive we can evaluate photographic results and check our equipment for the next drive. We will pay attention to specific interests of each individual. After every evening drive we will have a 3-course dinner and we can discuss our moments in the bush.

On our 7 day Luangwa Wildlife photography trip we will pay special attention to:

  • Tripods and other camera supports
  • (digital)- SLR camera’s
  • Fundamentals and techniques of the camera
  • Composition
  • Shutter speed, aperture, ISO
  • Exposure compensation
