At Track and Trail River Camp we love being surrounded by wildness. Here close wildlife encounters are a given, enjoyed from the safety of our open safari vehicles. Join us on a safari during the day, or an exhilarating night drive, one of Luangwa’s highlights, looking for nocturnal animals. The South Luangwa National Park is famous for its leopard sightings.

If you want to experience South Luangwa on foot you can join us on a walking safari, while focusing on the smaller things out in the bush.

Our safaris are a great way to discover South Luangwa’s untouched wilderness, home to over 60 different animal species, including lions, leopards, buffalos, wild dogs, zebras, elephants and giraffes. The Luangwa River has the highest density of hippos and crocodiles in the region. And with over 400 species of birds, including the Carmine Bee-Eater, Crowned crane and Giant Eagle owl,  South Luangwa is truly a birdwatcher’s paradise!

ABOUT TRACK & TRAIL

Track & Trail River Camp is a small and personalized camp that started with  Kirsten and Peter who after visiting Southern Africa several times, came to spend time in South Luangwa. Both were immediately taken by the beauty and diversity of the area and decided to leave the Netherlands for their new home in Zambia.

Kirsten moved to Zambia first and started the lodge that opened in 2006, while Peter followed a couple of years later. They both call South Luangwa their home.
