What We Offer
Kirsten Gottenkieny and Peter Geraerdts run the South Luangwa safari lodge, which specialises in photographic safaris. Our comfortable accommodation and relaxed atmosphere is guaranteed to make you feel at home. There are various accommodation options available in South Luangwa, all reflecting the rustic theme of a safari escape. Our Lime Tree lounge, bar and dining area offers unrivalled panoramic views over the Luangwa River. Here, you can enjoy a cold drink or a delicious meal, while at night you can join us around the campfire under the stars, listening to the calls of the wildlife.
When to visit
Track & Trail River Camp is open 12 months a year, as is the South Luangwa National Park. Although most travel guides encourage travellers to visit South Luangwa between May and November (dry season), there are many advantages to travelling in the emerald season (November to April), when the region is at its most colourful.

Why Join Us on Safari
Explore the wilderness of the Luangwa Valley. Close encounters with wildlife are a given, enjoyed from the safety of our open safari vehicles. Join us on a safari during the day, or on an exhilarating night drive, one of Luangwa’s highlights, looking for nocturnal animals. The South Luangwa National Park is famous for its leopard sightings. And more adventurous travellers can join us on a walking safari, accompanied throughout by our experienced guides.
Our safaris are a great way to discover South Luangwa’s untouched wilderness, home to over 40 different animal species, including lions, leopards, buffalos, wild dogs, zebras, elephants and giraffes. The Luangwa River has the highest density of hippos and crocodiles in the region. And with over 400 species of birds, South Luangwa is a birdwatcher’s paradise!
