Being 1700 meters wide, Victoria Falls is the most expansive curtain of water in the world which drops more than 100 meters into the sheer Zambezi Gorge. The Tonga and Makalolo peoples lived here for centuries before the Falls were ‘discovered’ by David Livingstone in 1855, who named them after his Queen. Its local name – after which the national park is named – is Mosi-Oa-Tunya, “the Smoke that Thunders,” which describes accurately the huge spirals of spray that can be seen miles away.
Day 3-4- 5- 6, 7 and 8 Chula & Kutali Camp, Lower Zambezi, Zambia – Safaris on Land & Water
From Livingstone you will fly with Proflight Zambia to Jeki airstrip within Lower Zambezi National Park. Your guide will be waiting for you and take you to the camp were the friendly staff will welcome you.
The Lower Zambezi is one of Africa’s most exciting safari areas. Right across Mana Pools in Zimbabwe with a similar landscaping. Experience the Zambezi River from the Winterthorn forests on remote Islands, all the way north through the many habitats into the escarpment for the best of both worlds.
The Combination of two camps in a different setting – Chula & Kutali camps are a unique way of experiencing the wildlife rich and diverse areas of the Lower Zambezi. Game viewing either by foot, canoe, vehicle or boat with the best safari guides is an adventurous and a very personal interaction within this amazing eco-system.
Kutali Camp is located within a magical Winterthorn forest on the pristine Kulefu Island in the untouched eastern sector of the park. You will be blown away by the setting of this camp right on the Zambezi– with just 5 spacious safari tents that sleep 2 each there are never more than 10 guests in camp.
Chula camp. is located on a romantic ‘Discovery Island’ and is closest to Jeki Airstrip. This island is like entering into a ‘Jurrasic Park’ episode …full of surprises and full of hidden lagoons and open dambos. The game viewing is unbelievable among which: leopard, lion, hyena, buffalo herds and lots of elephants. There is actually no need to venture further than this island paradise.
The atmosphere on Chula is very different to anywhere else, it even looks different with loads of Natal Mahogany trees and sandy beaches…the perfect contrast to Kutali camp.
After 6 nights of an incredible experience in the best part of Lower Zambezi you will be transferred to Jeki airstrip for your return flight to Lusaka. After a short connecting stop-over you will continue your trip with a Proflight scheduled flight to Mfuwe airport, following a road transfer of 35 min to Track and Trail River Camp.

The cottage layout is a large open room with spacious verandah opening out onto the beach. Here you can have your dinner (take away) or visit one of the many local restaurants in close proximity to your cottage.
After breakfast you will be setting off by boat to Mumbo Island, your home for the next 3 nights. The tiny island camp, with capacity for only fourteen guests, features tastefully furnished chalets with shady decks, hammocks and hot bucket showers.. A bar and dining area, lovely lounge under a baobab tree and a watersport gazebo complete the camps infrastructure. Mumbo was proclaimed the first fresh-water marine reserve on earth. Lake Malawi contains the largest number of fish species of any lake in the world, probably well over five hundred, half of which may be found in the National Park area. This makes snorkeling and diving an absolute must. Other activities are sunset cruises, island walks and kayaking.
